Ansari, Alternative politics and the rules of Tamil Nadu election game.

I write this to introduce Mr. M. Tamim Ansari (Age 34), who is in the fray for Chepauk – Triplicane constituency of Chennai in Tamil Nadu Assembly election 2011. He is affiliated with Manideneya Makkal Katchi (Humanitarian People Party), a political outfit of TMMK.  His party is aligned with AIADMK coalition.

Founded in 1996 as a socio-developmental organization, Tamil Nadu Muslim Munnetra Kazhagam – TMMK (Tamil Nadu Muslim Development Party) has been tirelessly working for the well being of marginalized societies of Tamil Nadu. Though started as a pan-muslim outfit, it served all sections of Tamil society.

TMMK started MMK with agenda of offering ‘alternative politics in TN’ – a term coined by TMMK itself. Since its inception, MMK’s sole motto has been ‘Nallavargal arasiyalukku vara vendum’ (Good people should enter politics).

So what is that so called alternative politics?

Honesty(?) (as well as corruption) has become a concept of relativity in Tamil Nadu (why not India’s) politics. The rule of election game goes like this “All are corrupt. We prefer lesser corrupt”. People had started digesting this and decided to move on. People have no confidence in the system but also not willing to step in and bring the change. The idea of alternative politics is to create awareness amongst people and encourage them to participate and change the system. As how Gandhi stated “Be the change, you want to see in”, this idea of polity calls people to change     the system by active participation.

Current MMK’s alignment with one of the front is the strategic decision for survival, recognition and continuous improvement. There is an urgent need for saving Tamil Nadu from DMK’s atrocities.  Sometime you must swallow bitter pills for curing the disease. So MMK have no option except to follow the above stated the rule of election game.

Outlook magazine survey concluded very recently that TN people feel AMMA is good when compared to AYYA when matter comes to corruption. Therefore the rule applies .

TMMK’s association with government agencies in organizing blood donation drive, emergency disaster response team (who won the hearts of tsunami affected people in Nagapattinam districts), ambulance services (93 of them across TN), tsunami relief fund raising and well organized emergency blood donors’ network are worth of mentioning here.  I myself availed their blood donation services many times at no cost.

Tamim Ansari:

A young, energetic and a New College-Chennai trained, Ansari, is from humble family (a common man’s family) in Thopputhurai of Nagapattinam district. He is a trained and well versed orator, an able administrator, social activist and also a columnist of Tamil weekly -Makkal Urimai (People’s Right). He has also participated in various conferences in Middle East and South East Asia.

As a young boy of 14, he developed interest in social activism that ended him in joining in TMMK in 1995. He was instrumental in forming and leading students’ wing of TMMK. In the year of 1997, he had won student union election in New College and subsequently become of its secretary. Then he became of youth face of TMMK.  From then, he has been playing a lead role in TMMK’s above stated various social initiatives.

Ansari is a graduate, a leader, a columnist and also a social activist.

Above all, he is a common man.  He is one amongst you.

A common man is the conscience of the society.

Throughout his social life, he gained insights of the social fabric of our society.

By voting for Ansari, you are voting for a common man and therefore conscience of the society.

Ansari (God willing) will reflect your conscience in the assembly floors.

Ansari, A young aspiring chap with thirst to change the society, will visit your neighbourhood if you live in Chepauk – Triplicane area.

Do encourage him and don’t forget to vote for him.

– Ahamed
